Helping Travelers Choose Luggage That Actually Lasts

We test suitcases on concrete, cobblestones, and actual airline overhead bins so you never get stranded at 30,000 feet with broken wheels or cracked shells.

Our Origin

Born From a Broken Wheel in European Transit

Luggage Expert was born from real travel frustration. During an international journey connecting through cobblestone-paved streets, our founder’s suitcase suffered catastrophic wheel failure—turning an exciting trip into a painful struggle dragging 50 pounds of dead luggage.

Searching online for replacements revealed a sea of generic affiliate review sites regurgitating Amazon spec sheets without ever touching the suitcases. Very few sources explained the real differences between cheap ABS plastic and impact-resistant polycarbonate, or warned travelers about strict international airline sizer dimensions.

That experience sparked Luggage Expert: an independent testing publication dedicated to physically testing luggage durability, measuring real-world dimensions with wheels, and helping travelers invest in luggage they can trust for a decade.

The Standard

Our 5-Pillar Rigorous Testing Process

Every suitcase we recommend must survive our physical testing gauntlet before earning our endorsement.

1. Concrete Drop Test

Weighted to 40 lbs and repeatedly dropped from 3-foot baggage cart heights onto corners to check for shell fracturing.

2. 10-Mile Wheel Glide

Rolled across gravel, concrete sidewalks, and cobblestones to test bearing heat buildup, tread wear, and wheel stem flex.

3. Airline Bin & Sizer Check

Measured meticulously including wheels and handles against actual 22x14x9 and 55x40x20 cm metal airline sizing bins.

4. Zipper Puncture Test

Tested against ballpoint pen puncture attacks and overstuffed burst pressure to ensure your gear remains secure.

5. Telescopic Handle Jerk

Extended and locked under maximum weight loads to detect handle wobble, latch stickiness, and joint weakness.
